Four home products won Best of IBS awards at the International Builder’s Show held by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in Las Vegas, Nevada in January 2013, with one product winning two awards. These products were chosen for their excellence in functionality, design and innovation.
More than 900 exhibitors representing various facets of the home building industry participated in the show.
These were the top products recognized during the show:
1. Heat & Glo- Twilight Modern Fireplace
— Best in Outdoor Living
This is a gas see-through fireplace that can be enjoyed while relaxing inside or outside the house. It affords a 36-inch viewing area and artistic flames and does not require venting or a chimney.
2. Mohawk/Dal Tile- ArmorMax
— Best Indoor Feature
This is a hardwood floor coating, protection and finish product. While making the floor dazzling to the eyes, it also guards the flooring against abrasions, liquid spills, soiling and staining. It features the Scotchgard Advanced Repel Technology, which resists soiling and repels liquid spills. The makers of this product claim that ArmorMax is five times more resistant to wear and tear than similar floor protection products.
3. Key Digital Systems- Compass Control
— Best Home Technology Product
Compass Control is an integrated control system for the home that uses Apple iOS products, such as the iPad, iPadmini, iPod touch and iPhone. It provides the capability to control lights, security, automation, climate, audio, video, shades and games systems.
4. KOHLER– Sensate Touchless Kitchen Faucet
— Best Kitchen or Bath Product
— Overall Best in Show
This faucet helps you complete your kitchen tasks more easily as its sensor makes using the faucet a touchless operation. It responds in milliseconds with its sprayhead locked securely into place and its two-function sprayhead. The handle also adjusts the temperature while the faucet is being used.
These four products stood out among the largest assembly of products in light contruction. Among the best appliances exhibited were a Unisource KP multifunctional food preparation station and a Beam Alliance central vacuum system from Electrolux. Excellent building
accessories were represented by Board-Tech Electronic light switch, Lavi Industries railing systems and TimberTech Earthwood Evolutions collections.
Among the best-designed home automation products were Greenfield Communications’ fiber optic telecommunication systems for multifamily and master-planned communities, Ingersoll Rand’s Schlage property management and family access control system, Honeywell home technologies that include its Prestige and VisionPRO thermostats, and Nexia Home Intelligence safety, security and energy management devices.
